For long-term bedridden Patients, frequent repositioning is essential to avoid occurrence of pressure ulcers. The purpose of this thesis is to validate effectiveness of the concept that employed low friction farbric for effort-saved Repositioning task.
After developed and improved, this study present a Detachable Repositioning Assist Device that is moisture transmission effective and suitable for long term use on the bed. Performance test were carried out to validate the goal of effort-saved and the property of vapor permeable fabrics Furthermore, the trace of operator’s center of gravity (CoG)indicated effectiveness of effort-saved Repositioning.
Research findings include:
(1) Compare with the disposable use sheet, the Detachable Repositioning Assist Device with low friction feature achieved effort-saved operation by saving 48% pulling force in patient’s displacement operation.
(2) The operator’s center of gravity direction trace and posture measure showed that the user maintained a good biomechanical state during displacement operation.
(3) By using Performance Textile of water repellent and vapor permeability, patients’ skin can keep dry and clean, which are positive to pressure ulcers prevention.
