Taipei Tech Plans to Facilitate Industry-Academia Cooperation and Talent Cultivation in Taoyuan Aerotropolis
The Taoyuan Aerotropolis is planned to be a smart city combining the functions of transportation, logistics, industrial development and housing. The Aerotropolis takes up 4,687 hectares of land surrounding the current Taoyuan International Airport. Taoyuan City Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan stated that he hopes to invite industry, financial and academia sectors to be a part of the Taoyuan Aerotropolis to help accelerating the development of this forward-looking city.
Academic institutes which have been on board with the Taoyuan Aerotropolis development project includes National Tsing Hua University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and National Chengchi University. National Tsing Hua University will set up an affiliated teaching hospital as well as a medical research and development park, while National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University also plans to establish a biomedical research and development park in the Taoyuan Aerotropolis. National Chengchi University will set up a center for public and business administration education to train talents with management skills.
Taipei Tech has recently partnered with Taoyuan Hutoushan Innovation Hub to boost research and development of intelligent manufacturing, IoT technology, smart driving, 5G technology and smart healthcare. Currently, Taipei Tech is discussing the possibility of obtaining campus space in Taoyuan Aerotropolis to push forward industry-academia cooperation initiatives related to smart machinery.
Mayor Cheng had mentioned that 2021 is the most critical year that will lay the foundation for the future development of Taoyuan Aerotropolis, and he welcomed the idea of Taipei Tech’s participation in Taoyuan Aerotropolis.
